The star shape — four sliding drawers radiating from
a central carved lid — is one of the most demanding
forms in Essaouira woodcraft. Each drawer must fit
with precision, sliding smooth and silent. The carved
arabesque at the center is cut freehand, following
Morocco's 500-year geometric tradition.
The Thuya burl grain — amber, burgundy, and copper —
forms naturally over decades. No two pieces share the
same pattern.
